Something unexpectedly spiced runs through Pegasus Cologne from Parfums de Marly right from the top, heliotrope, cumin and bergamot combining for a warm, faintly animalic brightness. Bitter almond, lavender and jasmine settle the centre into something sweet and herbal at once, the almond adding a marzipan like richness. Vanilla, sandalwood and amber close the base warm, rich and luxurious. Cumin in the top is a bold, unusual choice for a mainstream release, lending warmth and a faintly skin like quality most colognes avoid. Pegasus Cologne is a spicy gourmand Eau de Parfum, suited to evening wear and special occasions. Parfums de Marly took a risk with that cumin, and it pays off.
