Lavender ... Lavandin Angustifolia, is an Essential Oil obtained by distillation from the flower spikes of certain species of Lavender. There are over 400 types of Lavender worldwide with different scents and qualities. Steam distilled from the flower head. Lavender essential oil has been known for its antiseptic, analgesic and cytophylactic properties. It has also been known to have sedating properties. Note: Top. Strength of aroma: Strong. Aromatic scent: Sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma with balsamic-woody undertones. Produced in Provence, France, this oil has a sweet floral note preferred by many.
Lavender essential oil has been known for its antiseptic, anti-microbial and analgesic properties. When inhaled through vaporised air lavender also acts as a sedative and relaxant, helping to reduce feelings of stress. Lavender has also been noted for its ability to accelerate wound healing although scientific evidence to back this up is patchy. Lavender has also been promoted as a topical agent for the relief of itchy skin after research found the oil may inhibit parts of the allergic pathway.
